Second anniversary of “Zdenko’s Corner” website existence is quickly approaching (January 3rd, 2011).
Number of visitors is constantly on the rise and by the end of 2010 the website reached record number of 17,000 unique visitors for a month of December, who reviewed more than 37,000 pages, with about 435,000 hits (downloaded files). Very impressive statistics provided by my host “Hostgator”.
During the past two years I have created more than 370 blogs, evenly spread between two languages: English and Croatian. The official website is still a work in progress, and I have been listening what others had to say about this website.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your great support… you are amazing. I really appreciate your ideas and comments in the comments section.
Usage Statistics for zkahlina.ca
Summary Period: Last 12 Months
Based on your feedback during the last year with fantastic editorial ideas, you wanted me to improve the usability and design of the website. I have spent the subsequent months working on a strategy to make those dreams a reality. I realized it was time to divide my site between two languages, so you don’t get confused by looking at something you can’t read or understand. I hope you liked my new web site design.
The site will continue to be bilingual, written in English and Croatian, but you’ll always have an option to choose what language you wish to read. As my mission statement claims, the main themes on this website will remain about travel, cycling, my home towns Zagreb and about the city where I currently leave – Edmonton.
I can’t wait for what’s to come in 2011. This will be another year when I will travel to Europe, which means I have to plan few days climbing the mountains with my buddies. I can’t wait for the adventures we’ll have, the friends we’ll make, and the fun we’ll have with our current friends. I can’t really say where we’ll end up or what we’ll do, but I know it’ll be interesting at the least and most likely a whole lot of fun. There are so many ‘can’t waits.’ If it’s anything like the last twelve months, I’ll be pretty excited year. I am sure there will a lot of new blogs.
I hope you’ll continue to find something enjoyable for your reading and promise you won’t be disappointed! Be sure to check back daily for more new interesting blogs with lots of pictures. Enjoy this season with the people who matter most, get on your bike if you can, and be sure to say hello next time you see me on the roads…
At the end of another successful year, Zdenko thanks you very much for your support and for your reading. Best wishes to you, your family, friends and colleagues this Holiday Season.
In the old days, it was not called the Holiday Season; the Christians called it ‘Christmas’ and went to church; the Jews called it ‘Hanukka’ and went to synagogue; the atheists went to parties and drank. People passing each other on the street would say ‘Merry Christmas!’ or ‘Happy Hanukka!’ or (to the atheists) ‘Look out for the wall!’
There has been only one Christmas — the rest are anniversaries.
“Christmas at my house is always at least six or seven times more pleasant than anywhere else. We start drinking early. And while everyone else is seeing only one Santa Claus, we’ll be seeing six or seven.”
“Peace on earth will come to stay, when we live Christmas every day.”
