Travel Croatia – Summer 2011

By Zdenko Kahlina

Off The Beaten Path in Croatia – Island of Brac (Croatia).
The diamond is on your finger. It’s a beautiful ring, just as meaningful as the ceremony at which you got it. You’ll never forget that day.

French Alps – Summer 2011

By Zdenko Kahlina

My ride up the Alpe d’Huez climb the day before Tour arrived.
Alpe d’Huez (in French Alps) is the most famous climb of the most famous cycling race in the world “Tour de France”. With its 14.4 km long road up the mountain and its 21 hairpin bends, at an average gradient of 8.45% it is not an easy task to conquer on the bicycle. But we did it… just as thousands of other cyclists did on the same day. The day before the big Tour has arrived!

Travel California

By Zdenko Kahlina

Round trip from San Diego to Palm Springs
Several years ago I was spending a week in San Diego on a business trip. During this trip I reserved one weekend to explore southern California and pay visit to Palm Springs and all the places in between. As usual, I didn’t choose the fastest way; instead I drove thru the national forest and some big mountains with twisty roads.

Cariwest Carnival Caribbean parade on Jasper Avenue

Parade started at noon on Jasper Avenue & 108 Street and headed towards Sir Winston Churchill Square in downtown Edmonton. Cariwest masqueraders danced under sunny skies through downtown Edmonton Saturday afternoon in brilliantly colored costumes to the pulsating sounds of the Caribbean.

FRINGEOPOLIS…
Take a historic neighborhood, add dozens of different venues, stir in performers from around the world, throw in a few hundred thousand audience members and let it grow over 11 days. The result: one Fringe Festival.

JACQUES ANQUETIL
Monday, May 18, 2009

I remember year 1964 when I was just beginning to watch my older brother racing on his bike. In the daily sporting paper “Sportske Novosti” there were pictures of one French cyclist who was winning most professional bike races at that time. His name was Jacques Anquetil.

SAN DIEGO GUIDE TO ESSENTIAL ATTRACTIONS!
San Diego, the second-largest city in California, is a first-class place for a holiday. The city is spread out, and having a car is pretty essential. A week’s rental of an economy-size vehicle from San Diego airport with almost any company will costs you about $250.00 a week, including total damage excess waiver. Or, you may try Old Town Trolley Tours a hop-on, hop-off open-sided bus service linking tourist areas, with insightful commentary.
