6th Anniversary

By: Zdenko Kahlina

‘Zdenko’s Corner’, it’s been six years already!
Six years ago I created my own blog: ‘Zdenko’s Corner’. Words can’t express how that silly, simple, little thing changed my life. Thanks to everyone who has read, liked, shared and commented on my posts! Other thanks to everyone who just stopped by and took a quick peek without reading or leaving comments. You all are the best!

MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE – Part 2.

Words and Pictures by: Zdenko Kahlina

Climbing Italian Alps, Second day Friday, Friday July 20, 2007
A cyclist himself, Zdenko Kahlina (EMCC member) who lives in Edmonton (Canada) recently took his first cycling trip to Italy to climb some high mountains very often included in the Giro d’ Italia. He chronicled his experiences traveling with his bike and his buddies. He chose Bormio area in Italy (Lombardy) as his base. We should all do this… soon.

Technology

Source: IBM

This year (2014) the IBM mainframe computers turned 50 years old!
The IBM System 360 (S/360) was introduced on April 7, 1964. It came in a number of models ranging from the small Model 20 with as little as 4 KB of core memory and .0018 MIPS (Millions of Instructions Per Second) to the largest Model 70 with a whopping 8 MB of memory and running at a blinding 0.09 MIPS (at WCB where I work these days mainframe system runs 1,966 MIPS and uses 208 GB of memory).
