Traveling Cuba – Part 1.

Havana – Casa particular
The best vacations are when you travel without schedule. I refuse to go on one of these “All inclusive” tourist packages where they give you a schedule and they say, “O.K., from nine to 10 we’re going to go to the museum, and then from 10 to 11, and we are going to the art museum, then we’ll stop for a lunch”. That to me is like being in school; that’s not a vacation.

Retro fabulous

The Cycling World Hour Record is the most famous record in cycling. The hour record is established by riding the furthest distance on a velodrome in the time of 60 minutes. From 1893 to 2009 the best cyclists in the World have held the hour record including legends like Fausto Coppi or Eddy Merckx.

Zagreb (Croatia) Reclaims Its Status As Must-See Old World City
One morning, shrieking whistles yanked me out of a deep sleep. They sounded like a thousand cops dealing with an apocalyptic traffic jam. The constant racket drove out all rational thought.

Leasure cycling

Source: The Wheeler; words: Bill Frew

Gippsland cyclist and author Bill Frew recalls his sometimes embarrassing but typical induction into club racing.
When I survey my wonderful bike, leaning against the shed wall, I am always impressed by how potent it looks. I know it was made in a Taiwanese factory and is not the latest model, but you can see that it’s all about speed. My legs are well-trained, but I have never pushed this machine to the limit.

Coaches corner

Tips for Staying in the Bunch
I guess we all know the feeling. That critical moment when the wheel in front of you hits the point where you know you’re not going to get it back. It can be a hideous feeling. Your lungs are burning, your legs are burning and quite possibly, your mind is burning as well.
