Long weekend in Vancouver (BC) back in 2012.
As the Labour Day holiday was approaching this year, Vera and I were making plans how to spend this long weekend in neighboring province of British Columbia. Our plan was to drive there and visit our friends in Langley (BC) and we also wanted to finally tour the city of Vancouver. I knew, it was going to be a long drive, but I like driving so off we went on Friday morning (I had an extra day off from work) via Jasper and Kamloops on this 1000 km journey through western Canada.

The getaway – A Weekend in Bragg Creek
When the first English settlers arrived in Bragg Creek, few put down permanent roots. A common complaint was that the frost-damaged grasses provided little nutrition for wintering livestock. “A man cannot feed his family on scenery,” remarked one settler as he bid farewell. Ironically, a century later, the picturesque forests are what draw many visitors to Bragg Creek.

The Great Lake Gateway
It’s 6 a.m. and our family is stranded, castaways on a remote and rocky shore of Mara Lake, in B.C.’s Shuswap region. Our houseboat has no power. Neither the engine nor the generator will turn over. The radio is dead. There’s really only one thing to do: go golfing.

The Canadian Rockies: Alberta’s tourist biggest attraction
When I was reminded about some of Alberta’s tourist biggest attractions this spring, I got myself thinking about what impressed me the most on travels here. I’ve been lucky as I managed to make many holiday trips and half a dozen working ones all over Alberta. But what about first-time visitors, or ones who’ve maybe driven the Trans Canada and had little time for much else? Here is one trip I think they should put on their must-do list.

My Ride With Lance: The Riplay
In 2005 I rode with Lance Armstrong & about 30 others on an exclusive cancer fundraiser over two days in Lake Louise Alberta. Lance was at the height of his powers and in spite of his rock-star approach to the people who’d bucked up $35K each for the experience, we were all awestruck by his presence.
