Visiting Tombstone, Arizona

By: Zdenko Kahlina

The Town Too Tough to Die
I continued my stay in Tucson, Arizona, by visiting Tombstone, a city in Cochise County, Arizona, only about one hour of driving to the south east. The day when I arrived there, the temperature was about 80 degrees and sunny. Indeed, very pleasant day especially for early November… Tombstone is great. November is a great time to go.

Up to Mount Lemmon along the Catalina Highway
On my first day in the Tucson area, I drove up to Mount Lemmon along the Catalina Highway. It was a typical beautiful sunny day in the desert, with temperatures around 85 Fahrenheit (around +30 Celsius), quite a change for me after leaving Edmonton only few hours ago with temperatures around zero degrees.

IBM Briefing on Storage in Tucson
I recently returned from sunny Tucson (AZ) and boy what a site it was… I was there from Nov 6 – 9, 2010 and every day was sunny and 75-80 with first day getting up to 89 degrees… I have not seen that kind of weather in Alberta since summer…

 Ghost town of Goldfield

September in Arizona

Authentic Ghost Town, Arizona

Things are different in the desert. The sky is bigger. The stars are brighter. The sunsets stop you in your tracks. It’s a feeling that can’t be conjured, landscaped or kindled with twinkling bulbs. Come to Greater Phoenix and you’ll understand.

 More than the sand

Virginia Beach, VA

More than the sand

Curiously, the city’s imposing 34-foot statue of the Roman deity is facing away from the water, toward the boardwalk and beyond, as if to suggest: There’s more going on here than just surf and sand. He’ll get no argument from me.

Off the beaten path to visit historical Yorktown

After we left Fredericksburg we were heading south on Route 17 which is actually a George Washington memorial Highway. This is an amazing road. Not very busy, but going through some beautiful scenery.

On the road: Traffic congestion.

We left Washington City early in the morning one Saturday, with the idea of making it all the way to Virginia Beach before dark. Should be an easy task, right! Wrong.

I love NYC…
First get a good Manhattan map at the airport or any other tourist spots. Spend some time looking at maps and understanding the layout of the city, and getting your bearings before you get there..
